On August 26, 2018, at a Madden 19 Bowl tournament, gamers Eli Clayton and Taylor Robertson were killed in a mass shooting in Jacksonville, Florida.
The shooter, David Katz, reportedly won the previous years tournament but didn’t win this year. After the event, he went to drown his sorrows at Good Luck Have Fun Bar.
Katz then returned to the contest and opened fire, killing Clayton and Robertson, injuring 11 others and then turned the gun on himself.
Clayton who went by the Gamertag trueboy, was a California resident. He had previous success in Madden winning $51,000.
Robertson, whos Gamertag is spotmeplzzz, had success as well winning the Madden Classic 2017.
Dot City Gaming, who sponsored Robertson, shared condolences on Twitter:
A Go Fund Me page has been set up by teammate, Justin Saline aka Swizzy, who shared, "As a community we always come together to try and set their families as straight as possible."
The tournament that was going on in Jacksonville was to see who qualified for this year's classic.

The 11 other people that were shot are in stable condition. The ATV and FBI searched Katz house for clues to why this happened. They were looking for warning signs or planning. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to their families, loved ones, and all of those affected by this tragedy.”

That was indeed a horrible situation. My heart goes out to all that were involved. I will end this article with a final quote “ Then said to me, fear not Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humble yourself, know that you words have been heard and I have come because of your words.”
