Oprah Winfrey allegedly still has a tumultuous relationship with her 75-year-old mother Vernita Lee. She does not have Oprah’s direct phone number and she has to go through Oprah’s staff before she can speak to her daughter. Lee is in ailing health and suffers from high blood pressure, and severe diabetes that is affecting her eyesight.
A source told the National Inquirer, “Vernita wants to be able to call her daughter directly, but she can’t because Oprah has not given her the number. She has to call Oprah’s assistant Angelique and leave a message. Even then, Oprah rarely calls her back. Oprah will tell Angelique how to handle things, and Angelique calls Vernita back with a message.”
The source added, “I think Vernita’s anxious over it. She feels she could fall seriously ill and might not be able to locate Oprah. Poor Vernita keeps reaching out for her daughter, but it is as if Oprah just pushes her further and further away.”
Yesterday, Oprah went out to dinner with President Obama for his birthday.
