Bernard Jeffrey McCullough, better known as funnyman Bernie Mac, died back in 2008 due to pneumonia. His widow is now blaming Bernie's death on his old dermatologist, according to TMZ.
Rhonda McCullough, Bernie's wife of 30 years, filed documents just last week in a Chicago Circuit Court saying that Bernie's doctor, Rene Earles, had the chance to save the comedian but didn't know what he was doing. She mentioned that during a routine checkup he "failed to recognize and act upon abnormal vital signs and signs of respiratory failure."
Earles responded saying that he had nothing to do with this, Bernie just had a bad allergic reaction to some injection.
Bernie suffered from sarcoidosis, which is an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the solid organs. It was said that he went into remission in 2005, but his 2008 death seemed related.
Bernie was 50 years old when he passed away on August 9, 2008. His wife and daughter were at his bedside until the actor was gone. Shortly before his death, he was complaining about not being able to properly breathe and that he was struggling for his life. Bernie entered the hospital on July 24 already being very sick and was kept in intensive care during his entire stay.
McCullough filed for at least $50,000 in damages for her husband's wrongful death suit.
