The Sitter, directed by David Gordon Green (Snow Angels, Pineapple Express), is a comedy about suspended college student Noah Griffith (Jonah Hill) who is persuaded to babysit the kids next door. But these kids are no ordinary kids, they seem to attract trouble like a magnet. So one night of babysitting turns into an action packed, comedy ridden, drug dealer escaping night from hell. Does Noah have what it takes to look after these children, or will this just be another thing which he fails at.

Most people should be familiar with the work of Jonah Hill by now. He has become a great presence in the world of comedy at the moment starring in such films as Get Him to the Greek, Knocked Up and his best so far, in my opinion, Superbad. Jonah definitely has slotted himself into his own comedic category, normally playing the role of the overweight funny teenager, obsessed with sex and a bit of a loser. It would appear that is roughly the role he will be playing in this film. I don't think there is anything wrong with an actor playing the same type of roles, a lot of actors do that, as long as they suit that role and play it convincingly, which Jonah definitely does.

One of my favourite actors, Sam Rockwell, is also starring in this film as a drug dealer set to make Noah's night a living hell as he chases him around the city. Sam is a great actor, he proved that in 2009 with his outstanding performance in Moon. He has also starred in such films as Iron Man 2 and had a fantastic role in the very moving The Green Mile way back in 1999. Sam has proved, through his various roles, to be an extremely versatile, adaptable and varied actor. I look forward, as ever, to seeing Sam in this film and hopefully his performance will be as it always is, nothing short of brilliant.

Director David Gordon Green, has worked with Sam before in the film Snow Angels back in 2007, so we know there is a pre-established relationship there, which can only benefit both performance and direction. With David's previous comedy Pineapple Express we saw a lot of the same form of humour we can expect in this film. Lazy people, drugs, violence and some quirky lines.

The Sitter looks to be an easy going, funny and all round entertaining watch. Not just due to Jonah, who I have no doubt will be extremely funny, but due to the child actors. Children have proven to be funny time and time again when making jokes not normally associated to their age group, the shock factor if you will. It will be this shock factor, along with Jonah's sense of humour that will make this film the success it looks to be.

The Sitter is out in cinemas everywhere December 9. So if you are heading to the cinema tonight you will have to make a decision. You can either watch Ashton Kutcher and Zac Efron be romantic, adorable and predictable love sick puppies in New Year's Eve or you can watch three children and an overweight college drop-out attempt to impress girls and dodge drug dealers. I know which one I will be choosing.
