Tom Cruise is suing Life & Style and In Touch over recent cover stories they published about his daughter, Suri, that he claims to be untrue.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Cruise is filing the lawsuit over specific cover stories like Life & Style's July issue with the headline, "Suri in Tears, Abandoned by her Dad." Another includes an In Touch October cover photo showing Suri along with, "Abandoned by Daddy."
"Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. To say he has 'abandoned' her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible," the Los Angeles Times quoted Bert Fields, Cruise's attorney saying.
Entertainment Weekly states that the 50 million dollar lawsuit claims Bauer Publishing is responsible for defamation and false light invasion of privacy.
"Tom doesn’t go around suing people. He’s not a litigious guy. But when these sleaze peddlers try to make money with disgusting lies about his relationship with his child, you bet he’s going to sue," Fields said in his statement to The Wrap as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.
Cruise, Katie Holmes and their six-year-old daughter, Suri, have been watched closely by the media ever since their quick divorce this summer.
