David Zayas, who plays Sgt. Angel Batista on Showtime's Dexter, has been cast to guest star on Fox's mid-season drama The Following.

The terrifying new psychological thriller is from creator and executive producer Kevin Williamson, known for The Vampire Diaries and Dawson's Creek, and director Marcos Siega, who has worked on The Vampire Diaries and Dexter, reports Dread Central.

The Following focuses on an Edgar Allan Poe scholar-turned-serial killer named Joe Carroll played by James Purefoy. Kevin Bacon plays Ryan Hardy, a damaged FBI agent on the case to recapture Carroll and his army of copycats, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Zayas will play Tyson, a former FBI agent and good friend to Bacon's Hardy. He will make his first appearance in the tenth episode of the season and will ultimately end up helping Hardy bring down Carroll's copycats.

Aside from Zayas, Marin Ireland has also been added to the show.

The Following premieres on Monday, January 21 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
