Lee Dorman, the bassist for the rock band Iron Butterfly, has passed away at the age of 70 in Orange County, California.

According to The Huffington Post, Orange County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Gail Krause said that Dorman was found dead in his vehicle Friday morning and a coroner's investigation is under way. No foul play is suspected.

Iron Butterfly rose to prominence during the late 1960s and is known for their rock classic "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" that runs 17 minutes long. The band sold more than 30 million copies of their second album of the same name. The song has also appeared in various films and television shows like The Simpsons and the series finale of Rescue Me.

TMZ reports that Dorman apparently had a history of heart problems and according to some reports this was the reason he retired from music.

The bassist, whose full name is Douglas Lee Dorman, was referred to as "the driving force" of Iron Butterfly and "a major influence on bass players for the past 30 years" on the band's official website.
