Nickelodeon has announced that it's green-lighting the new show, Sam & Cat, a spin-off of iCarly and Victorious.

The show brings together actresses Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande to reprise their characters Sam Puckett from iCarly and Cat Valentine from Victorious. The two become best friends and unlikely roommates who soon realize independence isn't cheap leading them to start their own babysitting business, reports Deadline.

"Jennette and Ariana are adored by our audience, and it’s great to unite these talented actresses in this hilarious new comedy from Dan Schneider. This show promises to deliver on what our audience loves most about these two favorite characters — laugh-out-loud humor and non-stop adventure, and is sure to be a compelling new chapter for our new comedic duo," Nickelodeon executive Russell Hicks said, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.

iCarly just ended its five-season run and Victorious will be ending soon as well, making way for the network's new show.

Production on Sam & Cat is scheduled to begin in January and will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2013.
