Antonio de la Rua, Shakira's ex-boyfriend, is reportedly suing the singer for $100 million for the work he did for her career.
The two were in a relationship from 2000 to 2010 and during that time she requested that de la Rua oversee her business and legal affairs, reports ABC News. He claims he negotiated her $300 million deal with Live Nation and her fragrance deal as well as other things.
"She was extremely successful as a recording artist long before Antonio ever became her business manager. But the financial success she enjoyed with Antonio was unparalleled," attorney William Reid said, as quoted by Billboard.
After Shakira and de la Rua broke up, she posted a statement on her website explaining what would happen regarding their business relationship.
"Antonio continues to oversee and conduct my business and career interests as he has always done. We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication. Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible," she said in the statement.
The lawsuit claims that a lawyer was told to inform de la Rua of his termination in 2011 and after that, his partnership with Shakira was denied and his contributions were belittled.
It went on claiming Shakira has "wrongfully refused to pay de la Rua his percentage of the profits of the partnership for 2011 or the value of his share of the partnership upon dissolution."
Shakira and her people have not commented on the situation.
The singer is currently expecting her first child with Gerard Piqué and will be joining The Voice as a coach in the spring.
