New York is full of great restaurants but for a memorable dining experience try Tao Asian Bistro at 58th Street.
What was once a 19th century stable for the Vanderbilts, Tao New York is now a majestic Asian temple with influences from Japan, China and Thailand. A 16-foot tall Buddha and refleting pool full of Japanese Koi push this restaurant's dining atmosphere over the top. Tao is more than a restaurant with artifacts from the Orient spread throughout the room. There are more than 300 seats on three levels, including the exclusive Skybox which offers a scenic view from its two-story, 35-foot high perch.
We were at Tao New York recently, and the decoration is just the beginning of this amazing restaurant. The food is good too! The menus has plenty to offer for the entire family. The Kobe beef is to die for, and the Dim Sum was a hit with the entire family. The Chilean sea bass was simply delicious and probably the best tasting sea bass ever.
Tao's tea menu also offers plenty of flavors to choose from and makes a wonderful complement to any meal. Leave room for dessert, though. We had the giant wonton with mousse that left us feeling stuffed!
If you're going to Tao's, try to go for lunch. You'll get a great deal for just $27.50, which is available Monday through Saturday.
Tao Asian Bistro is located at 42 East 58th Street between Park and Madison Avenues.
