Robb Stark may be referred to as king on Game of Thrones, but he’s only a prince in Disney’s Cinderella. Richard Madden, who plays Robb Stark on the hit HBO show, has been cast in Disney’s live-action version of the classic tale.
The news was confirmed by the studio on Wednesday. This will give Madden a rare chance to show off his acting chops on the big screen, since he has done mostly television work. In addition to Game of Thrones, he has appeared in Hope Springs, Barmy Aunt Boomerang, Sirens and Birdsong.

Madden’s casting comes just a week after the production finally found its Cinderella. After testing several actresses, Lily James of Downton Abbey was tapped for the role. She is also a relative newcomer to films, although she did appear in Wrath of the Titans.
Cinderella is being directed by Kenneth Branagh, who replaced Mark Romanek. Chris Weitz and Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the script and Simon Kinberg is directing. Cate Blanchett is the evil stepmother.
The project is the latest live-action fairy tale for the studio and will follow Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent.
