Director James Bobin is quickly becoming a Disney favorite and you can’t blame the studio for that. He made his directorial debut with 2011’s successful The Muppets and is currently making The Muppets ... Again!. Now he could be doing another sequel for the studio - Alice In Wonderland 2.

Variety first reported that Bobin is in early talks to do the sequel. Linda Woolverton has already been assigned to do the script, although there is now word on what the plot would be. Into the Looking Glass is the working title and Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd will be back to produce.

In 2010, Tim Burton directed Alice In Wonderland, which became one of the studio’s biggest hits. According to Box Office Mojo, the 3D film grossed $1 billion worldwide (including $334.2 million domestically). It starred Mia Wasikowska in the title role and Johnny Depp played the Mad Hatter. Other members of the all-star cast included Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway. The film won an Oscar for its costume design.

It also launched Disney on its current kick of turning its animated classics into live action films. The revisionist Sleeping Beauty film Maleficent with Angelina Jolie is coming out in 2014 and the studio is also working on a live action Cinderella.

Disney Theatrical Productions is already busy turning the 2010 Alice into a Broadway musical.

Muppets ... Again! is currently in production and is set for release in March 2014.
