Although all three finalists on American Idol had strong performances on Wednesday, Thursday night’s results show left many shocked, including the judges. Leaving the show and just missing out on being a part of the finale was Angie Miller, which means Kree Harrison and Candice Glover are America’s top two and will compete for the win next week.

As usual, Jimmy Iovine gave his thoughts on the contestant’s performances. Here’s what he had to say:

Round One: “Last night I chose very difficult songs for them to sing. Why did I do that? Because I wanted to make it challenging and see what they’re made of. Whoever wins this thing is going to end up on my label, Interscope. I gave that round to Angie, even though I gave her a song that was so set up to give her a moment in one of the greatest songs ever written on a piano. She chose not to play the piano, and to me, that was a big mistake. Although it was great, it could have been that moment. So, because of that I gave her a nine out of 10. Having said that, she still won the round.”

Round Two: “Although the other two girls had very good songs and sounded great, Kree had the perfect combination of home story and sound. It was so emotional, and it killed me, therefore I gave her that round.”

Round Three: “Angie did well, but not extraordinary. She did a competent job. What I think the audience wants from Kree right now is attitude, and The Band Perry’s “Better Dig Two is all attitude. And she delivered it. I give Kree an ‘A’ for attitude. Candice did a job that every idol has always wanted to do. She had that moment, a moment that you see Mariah have, Whitney have, the great Mary J. Blige have, where they come in and just shut it down. If she goes home, I’m going home with her.”

Ryan Seacrest then announces that Glover is the first person safe, which causes the audience and the judges to erupt in excitement. He then says Harrison will be joining her in the finale, which leaves the crowd, the judges and even Harrison herself visibly shocked. Miller then has an emotional last performance and is joined by her family on stage.

As for the night’s performances, the three girls sing “Who Says” by Selena Gomez, Lauren Alaina sings her new single “Barefoot and Buckwild” and Alicia Keys performs “Tears Always Win.”
