Justin Bieber is being asked to pay up for leaving his baby monkey Mally with custom officials in Munich, Germany. The monkey was seized from the 19-year-old singer during his stop on his Believe tour last month.
Mally was detained by customs in Germany after Bieber failed to provide proper documentation for the monkey. However, when the “Boyfriend” singer left the country, he did not take his monkey with him and customs is demanding that Bieber pay for Mally's room and board.
A spokeswoman for the Munich revealed to The Associated Press that the cost to keep Mally fed and safe is several thousands of dollars.
The fine comes after Bieber missed the Friday deadline to reclaim the animal. Mally will now be transported to a zoo where he will live safely for the rest of his life.
“If no further documents arrive then the seizure order comes into effect and the animal becomes the property of the German state,” Thomas Meister a spokesperson for customs tells the AP.
It comes as no surprise that the “Beauty & the Beat” singer allowed the deadline to expire. As we previously reported, a rep for Bieber contacted the proper officials three weeks after Mally was detained saying that Bieber planned to give up Mally so he could have a “good home.”
