With less than a month to go before Man of Steel finally hits theaters, Warner Bros. has released yet another trailer. The new one is only a minute and 50 seconds long, but it gives a better look at General Zod’s evil plans to destroy earth unless humans give up Superman.

The trailer starts off with the similar message used for the MTV Movie Awards teaser from last month. Zod, played by Michael Shannon, hijacks screens around the world to tell Kal-El that he is not alone and that if the human populace that has sheltered him does not give him up, he will destroy the planet. But Superman, played by Henry Cavill, does not go quietly, and destruction and fight scenes follow.

It’s very different from April’s full trailer, which, like the ones before, centered on reintroducing the world to the Last Son of Krypton, in case we forgot the origin story. It does look like director Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan are sticking with a more realistic approach to the story, similar to the Dark Knight films Nolan made.

Man of Steel opens on June 14 and the LA Film Festival is hosting a special early screening on June 12.

The cast also includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Russell Crowe as Jor-El.
