Longoria recently started advocating for Latino issues on Capitol Hill according to the Houston Chronicle. Longoria visited DC to advocate for Latina owned businesses. She went in front of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee to encourage them to help the Latina community overcome barriers in order to achieve success. “If Congress really wants to create jobs and increase our global competitiveness, it needs to invest in programs like the Women’s Business Centers, which give Latinas the resources they need to create thriving small businesses,” the actress turned advocate told the committee. Longoria struggled against similar barriers and wants to be an example of what can be achieved when someone works hard and is determined.
