It turns out that not even former President Bill Clinton could get Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones back together to do a special performance as Led Zeppelin.
In a 60 Minutes Overtime interview with Robin Hood Foundation founder David Saltzman, he reveals that Clinton was recruited by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and Saltzman to get Led Zeppelin back together for the 12-12-12 benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy relief. Clinton was going to be seeing Jones, Plant and Page in Washington, since they were receiving their Kennedy Center Honors. But they wouldn’t do it.
Led Zeppelin hasn’t performed together since their special 2007 show at London’s 02 Arena, which was recently released on CD and DVD. During the press tour for the release, they again dismissed the possibility of performing together again. It looks like they are sticking to their guns.
Still, the 12-12-12 show was an enormous success success without them. The show raised $50 million to help those in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area hurt by the storm.
