Winning the top honor of Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Abdellatif Kechiche’s, Blue Is the Warmest Color: The Life of Adele, captivated hearts with this modern contemporary lesbian romance.

According to The Star Tribune, the panel lead by Steven Speilberg not only awarded the top honor to The lesbian coming of age film, but in fact also awarded it to the films two leading stars: Adele Exarchopoulos and Lea Seydoux. The director, Abdellatif Kechiche and the other two actresses all went home nabbing the Palme award being one of the most prestigious and honorable awards in the cinema's to date.

Boston.com said that the film of a brainy teenage girl that falls in love with a much older art graduate student stole the hearts of many. It does not hurt that some of the sex scenes are explicit to say the least that keeps the audiences attention filming at nearly 3 hours.

The other awards of best actor and best actress went to Berenic Bejo for Asghar Farhadi’s, The Past, and Bruce Dern for Alexander Payne’s,Nebraska.
