Firefights continue to battle the rapid brush fire in southern California where the abundant Santa Ana winds are fueling the fire to spread across the region.

According to CNN, the wildfire has already consumed more than 2,950 acres of the Riverside County area and engulfed one house thus far. 425 County Department officials were summoned on the scene to fight what they are calling the Summit Fire. Helicopters and fixed-wing tankers of water and chemical retardants were used already to contain the flames, slowing down the blaze this early Thursday morning.

The fire broke out at approximately 12:30 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, as recorded by KTLA. Currently about 35% of the outbreak has been contained.

Southern California Air Quality Management District had advised the public to avoid outdoor activities and festivities until the fire has been fully contained.

Accordnkg to The Wall Street Journal, the state has documented this Summit Fire as the 845th wildfire of the 2013 Gregorian year, a 60% increase of the past five years average.
