CBS renewed a full slate of new shows earlier in the season, so all that was left for the eye network to do was pick which of the few remaining shows would get cancelled. It turns out that all of them, including CSI: New York, will not survive.
CSI: NY’s ninth season ended back in February and wasn’t expected to be back, as Zap2It notes. This means that CSI is now the only member of the franchise still airing new episodes, since CSI: Miami was cancelled after the 2012 season.
Rules of Engagement also got cut. But don’t worry David Spade fans, he was cast in an ABC pilot, so he might be back soon.
Freshman shows Vegas and Golden Boy were also dropped, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Vegas sounded promising, since it was Dennis Quaid’s first broadcast TV project, but it moved to Fridays halfway through the season and fell into obscurity. Golden Boy took Vegas’ Tuesday slot, but it wasn’t drawing big enough numbers for the most-watched network.
CBS has picked up a bunch of pilots this week, including Chuck Lorre’s Mom and a project from Greg Garcia (Raising Hope) that is now titled The Millers, reports Deadline. Robin Williams’ Crazy Ones also got picked up.
For those keeping score, Elementary is the only freshman show from the 2012-2013 season that CBS renewed.
