Georgia Holt, Cher’s mother, made her debut appearance on the Billboard charts this week. The 86-year-old arrives at number 13 on Heatseekers album and number 43 on Top Country Albums with “Honky Tonk Women.”
According to Billboard it was initially recorded in 1980 with some members of Elvis Presley’s band. The album also feature covers of “Love Me Tender” and “Cryin’ Time.” Original songs and a duet with Cher are also featured on the album.
The album was discovered in Holt’s garage according to NME. Cher told Jay Leno she gave it to her musical director who kept Holt’s voice but took apart all of the music and made a brand new sound.
The mother and daughter appeared on The Tonight Show, Ellen, and Good Morning America to promote the new album.
As for Cher, her last album “Living Proof” debuted Number 9 on the Billboard charts in 2001 reported the Huffington Post, and she announced that her new album is finished and is rumored to have a September release date.
