Christopher Nolan, director of Inception and the Dark Night trilogy, has been approached to direct the next James Bond movie, which is scheduled for release in 2016.

After Sam Mendes, director of American Beauty and Skyfall, turned down the offer to shoot the film due to scheduling conflicts, Nolan quickly went into discussion with the producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson.

However, there is speculation that Nolan may not accept the final offer to film the blockbuster series.

According to The Daily Mail , he is in pre-production for his next big film starring Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.

“It does no harm for Broccoli and Wilson to talk with Nolan, even if nothing happens this time round,” said Baz Bamigboye, staff writer for The Daily Mail.

Based on reports by Access Hollywood , Nolan is a fan of the Bond series as well as a long time admirer of Daniel Craig.

The director search is still in the early stages and Nolan has yet to comment on the speculations.
