Daft Punk’s new release Random Access Memories has broken the Spotify record for most streams in a single week.
According to Billboard, Spotify didn’t say specifically how many users streamed the anticipated album, but did not that it surpassed the record previously set by Mumford & Sons’ Babel in October 2012, which was streamed 8 million times in its first week.
The music service also claims that the album broke the single-day streaming record and is set to be the biggest album since the service opened in 2008.
Random Access Memories includes the hit “Get Lucky,” which features vocals from Pharrell Williams. The track also broke a Spotify record last month with most streams for a song in 24 hours. Spotify said that it’s up to 27 million streams now.
The album has won widespread praise and is the biggest album in the U.K. for 2013. According to The Telegraph, it sold 165,000 copies there in its first week. "Get Lucky" has also sold 711,000 copies in the U.K. since it was released last month.
It’s also expected to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. The album was released last Tuesday.
