Daft punk first released a teaser trailer of their new album Random Access Memories at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in southern California according to Rollingstone.
Rollingstone also reported the duo has spent five years making the album. The process started in 2008 in Paris and there was not a plan to where the album would be going.
Daft Punk gave an interview with an Australian radio DJ, Triple J, today discussing their creative process when making their first single “Get Lucky” off of their new album, working with Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.
The full single “Get Lucky” represents the feeling of the album and the albums theme of celebration according to Yahoo. Pharrell is featured on the track. More guest vocalists include Julian Casablancas, Giorgio Moroder, and Animal Collective’s Panda Bear according to Rollingstone.
“Somehow this track can summarize what the spirit of this album is,” Thomas Bangalter said in the radio interview, “which is teaming up to try to do quality pop music and dance music.”
Bangalter explained to Triple J that the album became very optimistic with “celebratory and optimistic lyrics.”
“There is something very human about it [the lyrics]” Bangalter said.
Random Access Memories is set to release on May 21.
