Demi Lovato opened up about her friendship with Selena Gomez during a live chat with MTV on Tuesday. The 20-year-old said although they aren’t as close as they used to be, she assured everyone that she and Selena are, in fact, still friends.
"We've been through a lot together...we've had periods of times where we grew apart and just didn't really talk,” she said. "Now we're in a place where I think we realized that life is so short and when you have people in your life that love you so much, then you should just always be around them."
The “Heart Attack” singer continued to praise Selena, who will soon be taking on a new role in her life. She’ll be a big sister for the first time. Her mom, Mandy, is expecting a baby. She revealed the news by tweeting a photo of her hand on her mom’s baby bump.
“I want to be around for that,” said Demi.
Lovato continued, although there has been distance between them, every time she gets together with Gomez, they pick up right where they left off. She’s sure Selena will remain one of her best friends, forever.
"She has a great soul, she's talented, she's beautiful. She will always be really, really close to my heart,” she said.
