A Disneyland employee has been arrested in connection with the loud dry ice blast that scared visitors to the theme park in the Toontown area.
As we previously reported, the explosion near a trash can was reported around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and led to the area being evacuated as a precaution. There were no injuries reported.
According to The Associated Press, Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn said on Wednesday that Christian Barnes, 22, of Long Beach was arrested and is being investigated. Barnes works as an outdoor food vendor in the theme park. He’s being held on $1 million bail.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the Toontown area was reopened two hours after the explosion.
The dry ice explosive is similar to other devices that have exploded around Anaheim recently. “Unfortunately, it's an all too-common experience,” Dunn told the Times Tuesday night. However, he told the Times today that the Toontown explosion doesn’t appear to be linked to the previous explosions.
“We take matters like this very seriously and are working closely with local authorities," Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown told the Times.
