Rocketman, a biopic on music legend Sir Elton John, is still in the works. Good Universe will be handling international sales on behalf of the projects producers, which include John himself, at the Cannes film market.

According to Deadline, the project is going to be directed by Michael Gracey and written by Lee Hall, who earned an Oscar nomination for Billy Elliot. Hall recently scripted War Horse. Rocket Pictures is producing with Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish. The “Crocodile Rock” singer is on as an executive producer.

“We’re excited to be bringing this musical event movie to Cannes,” Rocket CEO Steve Hamilton Shaw said in a statement, reports The Wrap. “It’s bold, brave and inspirational. Good Universe has great commercial sensibility and we’re delighted to have them represent us.”

UTA Independent Film Group will handle domestic rights for Rocket.

Rocketman was first announced back in 2011 and will trace John’s life from birth to today, including his battles with addiction and his journey to international stardom.

No actor is attached to the project. Who do you think should play the singer?
