Former Go-Go’s bassist Kathy Valentine is suing her bandmates claiming they are allegedly trying to financially shut her out of the band and are in breach of contract.
Valentine’s complaint against her former bandmates Belina Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, and Gina Schock was filed Friday with the Los Angeles Superior Court according to Hollywood Reporter.
The suit against the 80’s girl band says the group forced her out which caused her to lose her 20 percent in shares of the band’s revenue as a one-fifth member of Ladyhead LLC and Smith-Pocket Industries, Inc.
According to CBS Valentine is seeking up to $1 Million and reported Valentine received an email from Carlisle on January 17 saying, “We have decided, for a variety of reasons, including our musical differences with you and the disparaging comments you have made about the band on your Twitter memoir, that we no longer wish to work with you.”
Valentine helped create hits such as, “Head Over Heels” and “The Whole World Lost Its Head,” and played with the band for over 30 years.
The four members have created GoGoCo Corp., by using their 80% owner ship of Ladyhead to license Go-Go’s products, which would reduce Valentine’s 20 percent to two percent.
