Franz Ferdinand announced they will release fourth studio album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions on August 27 in the U.S. and August 26 in the U.K.

The LP follows their 2009 release Tonight and according to NME was recorded in frontman Alex Kapranos’ Scottish studio, guitarist Nick McCarthy’s Sausage Studios in London, as well as sessions in Stockholm and Oslo.

Rolling Stone reported there is a number of collaborations but no names were given. Although, it was recently reported that Roxanne Clifford of Veronica Falls is a guest vocalist.

Kapranos describes the album as, “the intellect vs the soul, played out by some dumb band,” reported by Contact Music.

NME reports Kapranos said the new album’s lyrics are “the idea of the cynic’s search for optimism and the skeptic’s search for a manual crop up her and there.” Adding "I've always liked the lead character in Alasdair Gray's Lanark growing the hard scales to defend the soft inner-self from the world. Socially awkward asthmatic with a self-consuming imagination. My 19-year-old self was electrified. Maybe the album is about how to shed those scales."

Summer plans for the band include playing European festivals such as Coke Live 2013 in Krakow, Pukkelpop 2013 in Hasselt-Kiewit, and Frequency Festival in St. Poelten.

Cuts from the album were debuted at a gig in Glasgow at the venue Nice ‘N’ Sleazy. They opened their set with “Treason! Animals,” “Right Action,” and “Fresh Strawberries.”
