Parents in the U.S. are still going with Jacob more than any other name when they welcome a baby boy into the world, and for girls, Sophia has stayed a favorite for the second year in a row.

The Social Security Administration released its annual list of popular baby names and Jacob topped the list again on the boys’ side. According to The AP, this is the 14th straight year that the name has come out on top.

Mason was at No. 2, with Ethan, Noah and William rounding out the Top 5. The rest of the Top 10 features Liam, Jayden, Michael, Alexander and Aiden. Daniel was knocked out of the Top 10, holding the No. 11 spot.

For girls, Emma comes in behind Sophia. Isabella, Olivia and Ava hold the No. 3-5 spots. Emily, Abigail, Mia, Madison and Elizabeth are numbers 6-10.

According to USA Today, experts expect that the names on the 2012 list will be less common in 2013, since parents try to be unique when it comes to naming their child. However, Jacob still seems to stick around.

“Everybody wants to be unique,” Laura Wattenberg, who wrote The Baby Name Wizard, told USA Today. “The sound today that parents are looking for is very smooth and bright — very heavy on long vowels. Names with a similar sound, like Mia and Noah, you can count on thriving.”

As usual, pop culture has an impact on baby names. Jase gained popularity likely because of Jase Robertson on Duck Dynasty, while Arya - a name used by a Game of Thrones character - skyrocketed 298 spots. Cullen dropped after its popularity jumped in 2010 because of Twilight, but it dropped on the list in 2012.
