Jason Bateman is having a wonderful 2013 so far, thanks to the comedy hit Identity Thief and the upcoming launch of the revived Arrested Development on Netflix. The actor is now reportedly in talks to lead the voice cast for a mystery Disney animated feature from Tangled director Byron Howard.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the project will come from Walt Disney Animation, which has recently enjoyed successes with Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph. The site noted that there is no word on the title or when this project will come out, but it will center on animals. Beyond that, THR’s sources had no additional information.
Bateman does have some experience with voice acting, having worked on the English dub for Arthur and the Invisibles, reports Comingsoon.net. His other future projects include Horrible Bosses 2 and This Is Where I Leave You. The new season of Arrested Development premieres on Netflix on May 26.
Howard is a respected figure in the animation world, having co-directed 2008’s Bolt For Disney as well. He has been at Disney for years, working on films like Mulan and Pocahontas.
Disney animation’s next release is Frozen with Kristen Bell. It hits theaters on Nov. 27.
