Kanye West shared his thoughts about the paparazzi, Saturday Night Live, and being a celebrity during the Adult Swim upfronts at the Roseland Ballroom on Wednesday night.
Complex magazine posted video from the event showing how West did not hold back during his hour-long set.
The father-to-be said, “One thing about me, I’m the worst kinda . . . celebrity because all I do is make real music. All I do is sit in the studio and make real, real (bleep). And that’s it,” USA Today reported.
USA Today suggests Kanye bumping into a street sign while photographers took pictures in Beverly Hills and having trouble driving his Lamborghini through Kim Kardashian’s gates prompted this rant.
West is performing on SNL this weekend with host Ben Affleck. SNL often makes fun of these situations but West states he will not take part in any skits according to MTV.
When a friend asked West if he was going to go on SNL and “do, like, a skit about the paparazzi and (bleep) and, like humanize yourself?”
West responded with, “I ain’t here to apologize to no mother (bleep), man. It ain’t about me humanizing myself. At what point did I become un-human where I had to turn myself back? Or many I was demonized. Or maybe I was treated inhumane and not human in that kind of situation.”
He went on to explain how he is not a celebrity.
“I ain’t no mother (bleep) celebrity . . . I’m trying to make some music that inspires people to be the best they can be. I don’t want nobody to ask nothing else of me . . . I ain’t doing no mother (bleep) SNL skits,” West said.
After his performance on SNL West is scheduled to headline the Governor’s Ball festival in New York on June 9.
