Leading up to the ceremony, there were speculations about a possible wedding happening this weekend, 28-year-old Knightley spotted meeting her 29-year-old fiance at the airport and a source stating that some kind of ceremony would be taking place.

The Daily Mail now reports that the couple were married in front of 11 of their closest friends and family at the town hall in Mazan, about 12 miles from Marseilles.

Knightley wore a short white dress with a tuille skirt under a Chanel jacket and a chain of daisies around her head, and the couple had a modest silver Renault Clio take them from the wedding to the reception.

A source said of the wedding, "It was a very moving ceremony. Keira looked extremely moved by the whole thing - there were certainly tears of happiness. It was sunny day without a cloud in the sky. There were cheers of 'Well done, Keira' when she came out, but there were so few people present so they didn't make much noise," reports the Daily mail.

The source continued, "It was amusing to see them being driven away in a battered old Renault Clio - it certainly looked as though it had seen better days."

A party is scheduled for tonight at Knightley's mother's house outside of Mazan, where Righton's band will perform for about 50 guests, including actress Sienna Miller.
