Kelly Rowland was overwhelmed by her emotions during her performance of "Dirty Laundry" in Washington, D.C. on May 26.

Rowland's recently released song "Dirty Laundry" is a ballad that tells of her initial jealously and animosity towards Beyonce after the breakup of Destiny's Child and the abusive relationship she was in at the time.

The performance started with Rowland sitting on a stool onstage, causally singing. About four minutes into the performance, Rowland gets choked up when she sings the line "Turnin' me against my sister," in reference to Beyonce. She then stopped singing and hunched over in seat with her head in her hands.

The crowd reassured and comforted Rowland by chanting her name. She wiped her tears, regained composer, and finished the performance.

According to US Weekly, Rowland has said, "Doing this song for me was so therapeutic. Honesty, like my mama always says, is always the best policy."

"Dirty Laundry" will be on Rowland's upcoming album, Talk a Good Game, which be relesed June 18. Also this year, Rowland will be a judge on the third season of The X Factor.
