Although audiences are mostly going to the Transformers films to see robots fight each other, director Michael Bay knows that there has to be a human villain in the mix. That role now belongs to Kelsey Grammer.
The Fraiser actor has been cast as Harold Attinger, an counterintelligence man, according to Deadline. It is Grammer’s first big role since switching to UTA, an agency he reportedly hopes will get him more big roles in films. This is certainly a big one and will allow him to be the bad guy again after Starz cancelled Boss, in which he played a politician. That show earned him a Golden Globe for his role.
Transformers 4’s human cast already includes Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci. According to Zap2It, Nicola Peltz (Bates Motel) and Jack Reynor are also set to star.
The film is a Chinese co-production, with Paramount working with Chinese Movie Channel and Jiaflix Enterprises. Some of the Chinese actors will be chosen in a reality show.
Transformers 4 is slated for a June 27, 2014 release date and will be in 3D.
