Neil Patrick Harris is quickly becoming one of the most popular award show hosts. In addition to hosting the Tonys next month, he’s also been hired back for the Emmys, which will air on CBS this year.

NPH hosted the ceremony for the first time in 2009, the last time the eye network broadcast the ceremony, which honors the best in television from the past year. Ken Ehrlich will be the executive producer, CBS confirmed.

“Neil is the quintessential host – engaging, entertaining and a true showman – with a passion for celebrating the medium we all love. We’re thrilled for him to return for CBS’s broadcast of the Emmy Award,” Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment, said in a statement.

Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum added that the How I Met Your Mother star is an “extremely gifted and inventive performer, and we look forward to seeing what he has in store this year.”

“I couldn't be more honored and excited to be hosting this year's Emmy Awards,” Harris commented. “And what perfect timing – I'll just do the exact same script I'm about to use for the Tonys. ‘And the Emmy for Best Revival of a Musical goes to Breaking Bad! See, told you it works.”

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22 and will air live from NOKIA Theater L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. The ceremony rotates among the four networks and aired on ABC in 2012. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the ceremony.

Harris has hosted the Tonys three times and will host for a fourth time on June 9. That ceremony will also air on CBS.
