Paris Hilton is a successful businesswoman, having multiple fragrances, handbag and clothing lines out, but one thing she hasn’t been able to do successfully is break into the music industry.
The heiress, best known as a socialite, has signed a new record deal with Cash Money Records in an attempt to break out on to the music charts. She will now count Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne as her labelmates.
Co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams confirmed Hilton will be joining the label, saying “She’s always supported us, and we’ve supported her. It was a friendship first,” adding, “She played us music, and I was taken aback. I was impressed by her music, and I didn’t know she could sing so well,” LA Times reports.
Hilton is currently at the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France and she confirmed to Showbiz411 that she signed the deal.
This will mark Hilton’s second album. Her first, Paris, actually made it to No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart, but reviews were lukewarm. It was produced by Fernando Garibay, Dr. Luke and Scott Storch through Warner Bros. Records.
Hilton will likely release the new album this summer, she’s been working on it for over a year, and she will also be DJing in Ibiza, Spain this summer.
