Rebecca Hall will be making her Broadway debut in December with a revival of the Sophie Treadwell play Machinal.
While the British actress has done plenty of work on the London stage, this will be her first time performing on Broadway, notes The New York Times. She has performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where she took part in 2009 productions for Bridge Project. In London, she has performed in several Shakespearean productions, often under the direction of her father, the acclaimed stage director Peter Hall.
Machinal was written in 1928 and is inspired by the 1927 trial of Ruth Synder, who was accused of killing her husband and was executed, reports USA Today. The production will be staged at the American Airlines Theater, with previews starting on Dec. 20. Opening night is set for Jan. 16.
Hall is best known for roles in Ben Affleck’s The Town and Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She appears in Iron Man 3 and is working on Transcendence with Johnny Depp.
