Jon Favreau isn’t likely to run into trouble with funding for his new indie project Chef now that his Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. is attached to the project.

Deadline confirmed on Friday that Downey joined the project just as it heads to the Cannes film market. Aldamisa International is doing international pre-sales, while CAA is representing domestic rights. Producers include Karen Gilchrist and Aldamisa’s Sergei Bespalov. Production will start on July 8 in Los Angeles.

Chef was announced last month as Favreau’s return to his indie background. Favreau is better known today for directing the big-budget films Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and Cowboys & Aliens, but he got his start as a director with the 2001 indie film Made. He also directed Elf and the Revolution pilot for NBC.

Downey and Favreau’s co-stars include Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), John Leguizamo and Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire).

Chef is a comedy centered on a chef who lost his job and decides to run a food truck to reclaim his career, notes EW.

Downey can currently be seen in Iron Man 3, which was directed by Shane Black. He's also set to star in The Judge.
