Many are saying that this film is an introduction to Jaden Smiths acting career on the A list, but according to critics that is the only thing this movie has going for it.

According to The Wrap, Rotten critics have given the action film an overall rating of 13% this Thursday morning. Although not all the reviews are in, it is not looking so hot.

One reviewer expressed the movie to be a coming of age celebration in which the family members would be more excited than the actual audience who is viewing the movie:

"'After Earth' tells the story of an inexperienced boy trying desperately to please his father while making one mistake after another, and as such, it becomes an uncomfortable metaphor for itself," said Duralde who smashed the movie in his honest review.

"You know you're in trouble when you find yourself feeling sorry for one of the world’s wealthiest teenagers," said Duralde. "And you’re definitely in trouble when you wish the mess of a movie he stars in could be as entertainingly rotten as 'Battlefield Earth.'"

The premise of the reviews circled around the fact that this was Will Smiths less engaging of all his movies, and the directing type of course by Midnight Shaymalan did not help its case either said by Lou Lumenick Ney York Post.

"Eleven years and several progressively more dreadful movies after “Signs,’’ director M. Night Shyamalan would be lucky to get a gig directing traffic," said Lumenick.

"His work on this reported $150 million vanity project manages to generate no suspense or excitement. Only yawns."

Many of the reviewers found themselves siding with the younger of the smith clan saying that he was at the least a little more entertaining.

The film about a future retiree of the United Ranger Corps who has decided to take his 14 year old son on his last mission did not rank favorably among many of the reviewers in Rotten:

"This would be a difficult film even for the charismatic Papa Smith to carry. That he spends nearly the entire movie in a chair doesn't help matters."

"Basically, this is Smith and his real-life son, Jaden (both affecting ridiculous mid-Atlantic accents) talking the audience to death for something like 90 minutes before the closing credits."

"The level to which 'After Earth' is a catastrophe is amazing."

"Bits of the plot, including the environmental science of the new Earth, make no sense. The dialogue is leaden. And the special effects are surprisingly unconvincing ..."

Although the reviews are very unconvincing, not all of them are in and there is still a chance in which the hearts watching this movie can turn around; But at the end of the day the real review is what the people think.
