Don't call them The Stone Temple Pilots without former front man, Scott Weiland.

According to USA Today, Scott Weiland is not happy about the Stone Temple Pilot gigs that have planned a future without him. He claims that they have no legal rights to call themselves The Stone Temple Pilots without him:

"... I'm still a member of the band. And more importantly, they don't have the ethical right to call themselves Stone Temple Pilots because it's misleading and dishonest to the millions of fans that have followed us for so many years," said Weiland.

According to E!, the band is actually planning on suing the ex-member after firing him in February accusing him of using the band name of promoting his own solo career. In the lawsuit it also says that he was using the bands songs as well and asks the judge to make sure he never does that again.

He was apparently fired from the band due to his lack of communication, his consistancy of being late to performances and his iffy commitment to the band for their 2012 schedule. The band had said that they could "no longer be held hostage by a band member who continually puts his personal interests above those of the band."

All and All Weiland feels a bit of betrayl and defends himself saying that when he tours or does shows he does shows with no other name but Scott Weiland because he does not want to mislead fans:

"When I tour on my own, it's never as Stone Temple Pilots. It's as Scott Weiland. The fans deserve to know what they're getting," he continued.
"Like any band that's stood the test of time and made music for more than two decades, STP had a special alchemy—the four of us together were greater than any one of us apart. So if my former band mates want to tour with a new singer, that's their prerogative.

I don't give a f--k what they call themselves, but it's not Stone Temple Pilots."

The group has been seen doing gigs in California with their newly hired frontman, Chester Bennington, from Linkin Park.
