A thief has made of with $1 million worth of Chopard jewelry at the Cannes Film Festival, during the international event’s third day.

According to the BBC, the jewelry from the Swiss company was taken from the Novotel Hotel room where an employee was staying.

Deadline reports that Nice police told Le Monde that the entire safe was pulled out of the wall. It is common for festival goers to be victims of pickpockets, but this is the biggest heist at the festival in recent memory.

Chopard is a major sponsor for the festival and has designed the Palme D’Or award, which goes to the top film. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the company also designed the best actor and actress prizes, where were handed out during the Trophee Chopard ceremony Thursday. Oscar winner Colin Firth handed out prizes to the promising young actors Blanca Suarez and actor Jeremy Irvine.

Coincidentally, this year’s festival saw the premiere of Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring with Emma Watson. That film centers on the story of high school girls who rob the houses of famous celebrities while they go to red carpet events. The film was screened on Thursday night.
