The new film Gravity comes from the director of such works as Children of Men, Y Tu Mamá También, and A Little Princess. Cuarón’s new film features his high concept style and complex sci-fi storytelling.
According to Slash Film, Gravity stars Sandra Bullock (plays Dr. Ryan Stone) and George Clooney (plays Matt Kowalsky). They are two astronauts who are cut off from their ship by an asteroid or space debris. These two most figure out a way to survive in the darkness of space.
The film is written by Alfonso Cuarón (screenplay) and his son, Jonás Cuarón (screenplay). The film has had some developmental issues.
Angelina Jolie was originally cast but dropped out. Then actresses like Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Natalie Portman, Marion Cotillard, Abbie Cornish, Carey Mulligan, Sienna Miller, Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively, Rebecca Hall and Olivia Wilde were all approached for the lead role. In the end Sandra Bullock was cast, reports Screen Rant. Also Robert Downey Jr. was cast orginally but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
