The Weinstein Company is finally giving audiences everywhere a first look at their upcoming drama 'The Butler', due out in theaters on October 18.
Deadline writes that 'The Butler' is based on a 2008 Washington Post article written by Wil Haygood on the true story of White House butler Eugene Allen.
The trailer alone features Forest Whitaker (as fictional butler Cecil Gaines), Oprah Winfrey (as Cecil's wife Gloria), David Oyelowo (as Cecil's son Louis), Alan Rickman (as Ronald Reagan), Jane Fonda (as Nancy Reagan), James Marsden (as John F. Kennedy), Robin Williams (as Eisenhower), John Cusack (as Nixon), Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Lenny Kravitz.
This film, as reported by Hollywood Reporter, is Oprah Winfrey's first live action film role since the 1998 drama 'Beloved'.
The film's director, Lee Daniels, also brought us 'Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire'. The 2009 film swept awards season nominations, and based on this new trailer, Oscar gold is surely in its future as well.
