Ridley Scott is still hoping to make another installment of Blade Runner, but it’s still not known if this will be a sequel or a prequel. The director of the original 1982 cult classic has reportedly hired Green Lantern writer Michael Green to work on the script.

Alcon Entertainment first announced plans for a sequel back in 2011 after it acquired the rights to the property, which is based on Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. Scott agreed to direct the next film and in May 2012, he hired Hampton Fancher, one of the original screenwriters, to work on the project. Since then, there had been no new information until late Friday.

The Wrap reported that Green is in talks to write the film, which is also being co-produced at Warner Bros., the studio that released the original film.

The producers on the project include Scott, Alcon’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin. Executive producers are Thunderbird Films CEO Tim Gamble and Frank Giustra.

A source for The Wrap said that the new project will be set years after Blade Runner. Scott is hoping Harrison Ford returns to play Rick Deckard.

Outside of Green Lantern, Green’s credits include The Green Hornet, Smallville and Heroes. According to Variety, he also did a rewrite on Robopocalypse, which Steven Spielberg has delayed indefinitely.

Scott’s last film was Prometheus. His next film is Cormac McCarthy’s The Counselor with Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender. It hits theaters in November.
