Jurassic Park IV’s June 2014 release date has already been scrapped, so it looks like Universal is now hoping to release it in 2015. So if you thought this summer was packed with tentpoles, 2015 is going to be crazy.

Back in January, Universal went ahead and scheduled JP4 for June 13, 2014, even though no director had been hired. Then, the studio surprised everyone by picking the inexperienced Colin Trevorrow to direct the film, even though his only feature experience he has is the indie comedy Safety Not Guaranteed.

In May, Universal ultimately decided that it would be impossible to reach that June 2014 date, so they pushed it back indefinitely. Producer Frank Marshall and Universal promised that the delay was needed to make the “best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise.”

Now, ComingSoon.net is reporting that 2015 is the year they hope to release the film. The site spotted a huge banner at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas that showed “2015” under the JP logo. The convention’s book also notes that the film will be shot in 3D, as opposed to being converted to 3D after being filmed.

2015 is going to be an amazing year for science fiction and comic book fans. Star Wars: Episode VII and Avengers 2 are both scheduled for release that year. There’s also the final Hunger Games film, Marvel’s Ant-Man, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Assassin’s Creed. Time to start saving for all those expensive IMAX tickets.
