The names of the four people shot at a Louisville, Kentucky condominium complex at 4:30 PM EDT today have not been released, but the survivor is a 60-year-old woman, and the victims include a girl, a 38-year-old woman, and a 40-year-old man. It is unclear if the shooter remains at large or was among the dead.
The upper-middle-class neighborhood near Bellarmine, a private university pictured below, is known as a quiet place. 2-year resident Molly Hoekstra said “It's always been really safe and neighborly. It's like the most quiet place there is,” AP.com writes, and complex pool lifeguard Alex Stengel called it “really surreal,” according to USAToday.com.
While Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell refused to confirm the whereabouts of the shooter to some news agencies, he told AP.com “At this time, we believe we have everybody that's involved…We believe there's not anyone on the loose.” Police have also said that the shootings appear to be related to domestic issues.
