AC/DC screamer Brian Johnson is appearing on Sting’s new album The Last Ship, his first all-original LP in 10 years.
The LP, produced by Rob Mathes and mixed by Donal Hodgson, will be out this September but Ultimate Classic Rock reports the nature of Johnson’s collaboration is unclear but a publicist confirmed he is involved in the project.
As previously reported, the LP is the soundtrack to the Broadway production The Last Ship debuting in 2014.
The album will come in a 12-song version and a two-disc deluxe set featuring five bonus tracks. A 20-song deluxe version with special packaging will be available through Amazon. Vinyl and digital versions will be available.
Sting, 61, has released 10 albums since he parted ways with the Police around 1984.
AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams said bandmates Angus Young and Malcolm Young are working on new material for the group; however, no timetable has been set for a follow-up to 2008’s Black Ice Rolling Stone reported.
