Leftovers, the HBO pilot from Lost writer Damon Lindelof, has picked up more star power. Private Practice actress Amy Brenneman has joined to play the wife of Justin Theroux’s character.
The Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap confirmed that the Heat actress will play Laurie, a woman who leaves her life as Kevin Garvey’s (Theroux) wife and joins a mysterious cult. Kevin and Laurie have two children. He has decided to take it upon himself to help the survivors of the Rapture to have a sense of normalcy. Unfortunately, Laurie and everyone else don’t want to go back to normal.
The rest of the cast includes Emily Meade (Boardwalk Empire), Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) and Liv Tyler in her first regular series role. Jake Robinson has a recurring role.
HBO ordered The Leftovers pilot in February and Theroux joined earlier this month. It is based on the 2011 novel by Tom Perrotta.
