Angelina Jolie brought a lot of inspiration and hope to women around the world when she revealed her decision to undergo a double mastectomy as a preventative measure. The mother of six, 37, accompanied her fiancé, Brad Pitt, to the premiere of World War Z on Sunday in London, her first public appearance since announcing her surgery.
Jolie said she’s feeling “great,” and she thanked all of those who have been lending her support throughout this difficult ordeal.
"I feel great, I feel wonderful, and I'm very, very grateful for all the support," she said, E! Online reports. "It's meant a lot to me."
Jolie continued that she’s grateful that her own experience paved the way for a much broader conversation about women’s health.
“I've been very happy just to see the discussion about women's health expanded, and that means the world to me," she said. "And after losing my mom to these issues, I am very grateful for it. And I've been very moved by the support of people."
As for Pitt, who called her actions “heroic,” Jolie said he has “been extraordinary," throughout all of this and "he's such a wonderful man and a wonderful father, and I'm very, very lucky."
